Ep. 41 – Not Afraid Of The Dark

HBO’s documentary series I’LL BE GONE IN THE DARK paints a powerful portrait of the obsessions that inspired and consumed Michelle McNamara. Her work was pivotal to identifying The Golden State Killer. But in the end, a different and more insidious killer claimed McNamara’s life. Christopher and Eric go on a deep dive into the dark, as they take an honest look at the close kinship shared by inspiration, obsession and addiction. Sanity should not be the cost of creativity. Your hosts also discuss how they walk the fine line between the light and the dark in their own lives by using positive obsessions to overpower the negative ones that often demand our attention.

(If this episode sounds different from our others, that’s because it was recorded remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to be back in our usual studio space as soon as public health advisories allow.)
